(1906-1945) Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht, recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. Chief of staff of the 9th Army. He was killed in action on 29. April 1945 during the Battle of Halbe. Handwritten letter to his wife and son, dated October 17, no year, 2 pages, based on his rank written on the enclosed envelope, ‘Hauptman in the General Staff’, and the Feldpost number, probably Norway 1940-1941. Hoelz writes his wife that he is always well informed about the war situation in Berlin, despites recent alarm there was no attack [on Berlin] and hopes that it will be quiet in Berlin for his Christmas leave. Mentions his soldiers and signed at conclusion ‘D.[ein] Hans.’ Mailing folds.
