Black and white photos showing the Japanese delegation flying into the Ryukyu Islands, on 19 August 1945 to meet with the Americans to be flown to Manilla to negotiate surrender. The delegation comprised of sixteen top Japanese officials including Lieutenant General Torashiro Kawabe and Rear Admiral Ichiro Yokoyama. The photos show the Japanese Mitsubishi G4M-1 landing at the Ie Shima Airfield. The officials are then shown climbing a ladder into a USAAF C-54 transport plane. Yokoyama was present for the signing of Japanese Instrument of Surrender with General Douglas MacArthur and Chester Nimitz. 4 x 5 inches. Minor pencil inscriptions.
