(1910-1996) The last commander of the SS Division Wiking in the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II. Ullrich commanded the SS Division Wiking. Following the death of one of his Division’s officers, the Division rounded up the Jews in the city of Lviv. A gauntlet was made of two rows of officers, where Jews were made to run down the gauntlet while being struck with rifle butts and bayonets. At the end of the path was a bomb crater where the Jews were shot by SS officers and fell into a mass grave. He surrendered to the Americans in May 1945 and following the war, published a book in which he claimed only one member of the Totenkopf committed a war crime.
