(1874-1964) Thirsty-first president of the United States. Typed letter signed, March 21, 1939, on his personal letterhead to the Hon. William H. Murray (1869-1956, ninth governor of Oklahoma) Broken Bow, Oklahoma, reading in part: ‘…I do believe that with courage and zeal we can end the destructive features of this episode in American life. I am sending you a little book containing some of my speeches – just by way of reciprocation and in case you might want them for reference…’ The letter is mounted and framed, visible size 9.5 x 6.5 inches, overall 11.5 x 14.5 inches. Original mailing envelope enclosed. Letter exhibits two tears in the upper right corner, mailing folds, mounting and dampness stains. Not examined outside of frame.
