Recommendation for preferred promotion for Leutnant KARL BERND of Fallschirmjager Regiment 2. Two page document, Fallschirm Jager Regiment 2, Command Post, 26.7.1944, signed at the bottom of page one by HANS KROH (1907-1967), German paratroop general, commander of the regiment, recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, in Africa he served in the Ramcke Parachute Brigade. On page two, Generalleutnant HERMANN-BERNHARD RAMCKE (1889-1968), German general of paratroop forces, signs on 31.July 1944, in support of the recommendation as commander of the 2. Fallschirmjager-Division. KURT STUDENT (1890-1978) Generaloberst, supreme commander of the 1. Fallschirm-Armee, signs below Ramcke on 18.8.1944 in support of the promotion. 8.25 x 11.75 in., files holes, toning at edges. Leutnant Bernd received the German Cross in Gold, he participated as a paratrooper in Crete and Korinth, and served in Russia. Under his leadership his unit captured several anti-tank weapons, 26 horses, captured 150 prisoners, and destroyed two T34’s.
