A fantastic double-sided embroidered table flag from the German shooting association ‘Schuetzengemeinschaft Weidenhain’, constructed of light green satin with a border of gold colored metallic wire fringe along the bottom. The obverse is finely embroidered with the coat of arms, a crowned lion patterned with red and white horizontal stripes. In the background is a blue shooting target and two crossed rifles framed by a pair of oak branches. The top is embroidered ‘Gut Ziel. Hurra’ (Good Aim. Hooray) and the bottom identifies the club as the ‘Schutzengesellschaft Weidenhain E.V.’, most likely a small town in the state of Hesse near the border of Thuringia based on the coat of arms. Attached in the corners are two Winterhilfswerk (WHW) pins, on the left a Reichskriegsflagge pin and on the right a Fallschirmjager Standarte pin. The reverse is apple green satin and embroidered in gold ‘Gewidmet von den Damen 1933.’ (‘Dedicated by the ladies’). Approx. 7.75 x 12 inches, the flag is held by four loops to a 10 inch long wooden bar with a pair of metallic gold tassels. Some wear to the front, the back shows some loss of satin and minor stains from storage. A very attractive table pennant making a nice display piece.
