Historical relic, a large piece of bomb shrapnel, recovered by a local historian from Adolf Hitler’s mountain retreat the Berghof at Obersalzberg and the ‘Fuhrersperrgebiet’ (Security Zone). According to the included provenance the fragment was found in 1999 in the ruins of Hitler’s Berghof on Obersalzberg in anticipation of the clearing of the area by the Bavarian State in 2001/02. The irregular-shaped bomb shrapnel is approx. 4.75 x 1.5 inches. With letter of provenance.
