Historical Militaria & Autographs
Two items sent from a member of the SS Schutzstaffel to his brother in Oakland, California! Walter [Siefert] sends his brother Alfred the rare Hoffmann book of Adolf Hitler ‘Hitler wie ihn keiner kennt’ (The Unknown Side of Hitler) with a 3.5 x 5.5 in. photo of himself in his SS uniform glued to the half-title page, dedicated ‘In memory from your brother Walter’ and quotes the Horst Wessel Song. A few pages later he adds the lyrics from a patriotic song by Bogislaw von Selchow and adds ‘Heil + Sieg until the 3rd Great German Empire’. The book is in fair condition with some dampness stains to the last few pages, pages 91-94 are disbound, only the cover from original dust jacket remains, loss around the edges. The second piece is a Heinrich Hoffmann postcard, number 448, with a design by Hans Friedmann, commemorating the 1935 Reichs Party Rally in Nuremberg, stamped in Nuremberg, 16. September 1935 addressed to his brother Alfred in Oakland, California. He writes: ‘Greetings from the party rally…I’m an aide for the Fuhrer at the Deutscher Hof…yesterday Germans from Argentina visited the Fuhrer…the whole world sent representatives…’. Two pieces, very good.
