Historical Militaria & Autographs
Set of three knives, each 9 inches long, from a SS canteen at KL Buchenwald stamped at the handle ‘DAW KL Buchenwald’. The initials stand for ‘Deutsche Ausrustungswerke GmbH’ (DAW). The grounds of the DAW arms factory bordered the Buchenwald concentration camp to the east. Only ruins remain of this former SS factory, in which concentration camp inmates were forced to work to meet wartime requirements. About 15,500 concentration camp prisoners died at DAW due to heavy work loads imposed by the contractor and the inhuman working conditions.WITH: A dinner spoon, 8.5 inches long, marked at the handle with the unidentified initials: ‘3.L.i.F.’.
