Historical Militaria & Autographs
An unusual set of three b/w photographs depicting the torture and shooting of a concentration camp prisoner by two guards in uniform with very visible SS insignia. Two of the images show a large painted sign with a skull and crossbones and written on it in German ‘[Death] Zone Eintritt verboten!’ in front of a barbed-wire fence. One image depicts the prisoner hanging by his hands from a pole with his hands tied, while two guards are beating him and a large dog stands to his right, one image shows the same prisoner on the ground being shot at with a rifle. The location is not identified. It is unclear if these images are a record of a real event or a re-enactment by inmates after liberation. Each photograph is 3.25 x 4.75 inches and printed on Agfa photo paper.
