Late-war service ID issued to a Wehrmacht paramedic driver, dated 13. April 1945, by a reserve hospital Annaberg/ Ore Mountains (Eastern Germany) and endorsed by the chief medical officer and chief surgeon. A simple, typed document, 4 x 5.75 in., bears a red cross at top, according to the card issued by the Deutsche Wehrmacht, Oberkommando der Wehrmacht – Chef des Wehrmachtsanitatswesens, service ID ‘W.San. Nr. 38’ directs that Unteroffizier Ludwig Hindermeyer, born 14.11.1898 in Eberstadt, is exclusively a paramedic driver and permitted to wear the Geneva Identification, a stamped white armband with a red cross. Given the date this document was issued certainly explains the simplicity of this permit.
