ADOLF HITLER STREET SIGN
Large German WWII ‘Adolf-Hitler-Platz’ street, or rather square, sign, convex iron with blue enamel and white lettering. 35.5 x 8 inches, mounting holes in the four corners with some loss of enamel and surface rust. Minor surface scratches to the front. Immediately after the seizure of power German towns rushed to rename streets, places, and squares in honor of the newly elected chancellor. At the end of the war these signs were taken down faster than they appeared, being removed by the townspeople or being taken by soldiers as souvenirs.
