WAFFEN-SS SOLDIER COMMITS SUICIDE
Personel file for Waffen-SS soldier Karl Habart (1925 – 1944), radio operator with the SS-Nachr .Ers. Abteilung 1. Hobart was born 15 April 1925, in Vienna, Austria, and enlisted in the Waffen-SS in March of 1943, after a hospital stay he was released for a 14-day recovery period and stayed with his foster parents in Vienna. On 5 February 1944 he was found in his bed with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His file, 26 pages, includes his Waffen-SS Stammrolle, a death report by the SS, his service certificate, casualty reports, and documents from the SS welfare administration. No comment has been entered as to the cause of the suicide.
