MANNHEIM 1933-1945 BEFORE AND AFTER WWII
‘1933 – 1945 Bilddokumente Mannheim’ (Picture documents), published by the Military Government Section, Heidelberg, 1946, 104 pages, approx. 8 x 8 inches, German/English text, with an introduction by the mayor of the city of Mannheim. The city with its industries and the neighboring BASF factory center saw over 150 air raids. Mannheim was considered by the United States as a possible target for the atomic bomb, but the occupation by American troops in March of 1945 prevented any such action. The book is divided into images of the city before and after the bombings.
