Very rare pair of Spanish Civil War anti-fascist propaganda postcards. Published 1937 by Generalitat de Catalunya, Comissariat de Propaganda, Barcelona, in color, 5.5 x 3.5 in. The first postcard, 16 February 1936, is described in English on the back ‘The elections, finally permitted in February by the Rightists, give an immense majority to the defenders of the people’s cause, and open the prisons where thousands of workers have been for more than a year suffering under the most barbarous reactionary repressions’. The second shows the date of 7 November 1936, in English on the back ‘The fascist forces arrive at the gate of Madrid to begin the most criminal bombardment known to history, since its victims are women and children, innocent and helpless beings’. Very rare.
