WWII German Wehrpass for Unteroffizier Richard Vogelpohl, a radio mechanic, born July 29.1921, in Osnabrueck. Wehrpass is issued at Osnabrueck, February 15, 1943. His service begins on October 15, 1940 at 3./Flieger-Ausbildungs-Regiment 51 Koenigsberg in Prussia. Vogelpohl is eventually transferred to Kampfgeschwader 76 in April 1942, in August 1944 he moves to the Flugzeugfuhrerschule A7, until he transferred January 9, 1945, and serves until the surrender of Germany with III. Kampfgeschwader KG 76, which surrendered to the British Army in May 1945. The last entry is May 5, 1945. Vogelpohl is awarded the Front Flying Clasp in gold and pendant for 200 engagements, Iron Cross first class, Honor Goblet of the Luftwaffe, and the Krimshield, the Pilots Badge. Fascinating document for a Luftwaffe soldier who served from the Russian front to the Mediterranean, until the final days of Germany’s surrender.
